The Boy Who Lived

nope. you guessed it wrong. the title's not about me but for the boy who really lived. well, in the wizarding world, that is.

i got hold of the very first harry potter early second year during high school. it was owned by jomai, then newly-transferred student into our class from japan. i was not really interested on the book as i thought it was too childish, the cover giving me that impression. so one time, when she was quietly in a corner finishing the book, i borrowed it for few minutes, just to browse and see the writing style of the author. but for some magical reason, i wasn't able to put down the book. the book absorbed me into the world of wizards, of muggles, of the boy who lived.

that was how i was introduced to the book series. everytime a new book in the series comes out, jomai, who became a super close friend, goes out and buys it (she even has the other books by jk rowling like the one about quidditch and the magical animals). my sister just started collecting the book quite recently so lucky for me that jomai is a generous friend. there was even a time when we joined the triwizard competition in atc and won some harry potter stuff.

i just finished the book (deathly hallows) last night. 12midnight, to be exact. (no kidding, i was surprised myself when i looked at my phone's time.) initially, i planned to finish it at the soonest time possible after i had it when powerbooks greenbelt 3 opened last saturday. but then i decided that i will peruse every word, read everything written on the book so i could be in every scene as the story unfolds and ends.

j.k rowling is sure one good writer. i admire her creativity and her sense of storytelling because the narration of the whole harry potter saga was near perfect (there were some contrived moments in the book but those were just minor and easily forgotten). she was able to close every major loophole that was left hanging in the earlier books. i so love it when she mentions past events that made things clearer. and most of the events she turned back into were things i thought at first did not matter. it felt good to reminisce from the past books. sigh.

i want to gush here everything that i loved on the book but i think i will just wait for a few more days. i don't want to be a spoiler. the experience of reading the entire harry potter story is a such a great pleasure. many thanks, jk!

i'm such a harry potter nerd. sorry.
